Ternyata penyebab tokso yang banyak terjadi bukan karena kucing

Selama ini jika seorang perempuan hamil keguguran disebabkan toksoplasma, kucing kerap dituding sebagai biang keladinya. Padahal, infeksi toksoplasma lebih sering disebabkan konsumsi makanan mentah atau yang dimasak tidak sempurna.

Menurut Dr. Liliane Grangeot-Keros, pakar imunologi Universite Paris Sud II, fakta menunjukkan penyebaran toksoplasma paling umum terjadi dari sayuran mentah, sayuran yang tidak dicuci dengan benar. Juga makanan tidak dimasak dengan sempurna.

Toksoplasma adalah infeksi yang disebabkan parasit Toxoplasma gondii yang penyebarannya bisa terjadi melalui makanan atau air yang sudah terkontaminasi. Bisa juga ditularkan dari hewan ke manusia.

"Pada binatang, toksoplasma bukan berasal dari bulunya tapi dari kotoran yang dikeluarkan, jadi bukan karena mencium-cium kucing. Dan risiko toksoplasma lebih besar dari anjing dibanding kucing," kata Yuditia Purwosunu, dari divisi Fetomaternal Departemen Obstetri dan Ginekologi FKUI di Jakarta, belum lama ini.

Infeksi toksoplasma pada orang dewasa atau perempuan yang sedang hamil umumnya tidak menimbulkan gejala, kalaupun ada biasanya berupa meriang/demam ringan sehingga seseorang kadang tidak mengetahui jika bayi yang dikandungnya berisiko terinfeksi.

Pada orang yang memiliki sistem kekebalan tubuh menurun atau rendah, maka infeksi toksoplasma bisa berakibat besar terhadap kematian dan kecacatan bayi yang dikandung.

Dr Keros menuturkan jika parasit ini ditularkan ke bayi yang sedang dikandung maka bisa menyebabkan gangguan atau kelainan pada janin seperti keguguran spontan, bayi lahir dengan kerusakan mata atau otak yang parah atau bayi lahir dengan gangguan penglihatan.

Untuk itu, penting dilakukan skrining TORCH untuk mendeteksi toksoplasma, rubella, cytomegalovirus/CMV dan herpes simplex, khususnya saat trimester pertama kehamilan, saran Dr Keros. (go4/*****)

Speechless

Ponakanku (10 thn) tahun lalu tiba2 kejang2 di sekolah.
ke dokter divonis Epilepsi, dan disuruh pindah ke sd biasa,

tapi obat2an Epilepsi justru memparah kejang2nya dan perilakunya berubah bgt... dari yang kalem tiba2 jadi "kurang ajar". main comot sana sini, ucapan yang makin ga terkontrol dan makin gendut.

Bulan lalu berobat ke SG dan setelah diperiksa lebih dalam, divonis tumor di otak tengah.
minggu lalu dibiopsi, vonisnya malah makin parah : kanker.

Kasian si Tetehku yg lagi mabok karena sedang hamil lagi

Ponakanku ini adalah Cicit Pertama dari Cucu Pertama dari Anak Pertama Nini-ku, jadi ya... statusnya juga Ponakan Pertamaku.
